About

I'm Angie, and I help fiction authors make their books soar.

My specialty is speculative fiction. I love all things fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. When you work with me, you get a wholehearted advocate for your writing. As your editor, I will nurture your unique voice, guide you to uncover the essence of your story, and help you craft a fantastic novel.

Experience

A little over a year ago, I decided to write a novel - and my world changed. I dove headfirst into the writing scene and discovered the joy of critique groups. I joined Scribophile, where I have offered over 224 critiques comprising over 100,000 words.

Soon I realized I love critiquing as much as I love writing. I joined two local critique groups and created a group of my own with classmates from an Author's Publish course. We've been meeting weekly since October 2022. I'm also in a critique group on Scribophile. On average, I spend 12 hours a week critiquing other peoples' fiction.

To level up my writing and editing game, I began taking courses and pursuing certification. I am working towards certification in book coaching from Author Accelerator and story coaching with Fictionary. And I'm training to be a spiritual director :)

I am also a writer. My first manuscript, a dual-POV YA Occult novel entitled The Stonecrafters, won a 2023 Claymore Award for best Juvenile/YA.

Education

I have a PhD in Sociology from Purdue University. My area of specialty was Self & Identity Theory. Then I spent 12 years as an adjunct sociology professor and eight years as a sociologist of religion. Before that, I was an elementary art teacher.

Sociology provides a rich foundation for a writer. It provides a deeper understanding of human behavior, social dynamics, and societal issues. It equips writers with valuable insights, research skills, and critical thinking abilities.
